# How to find acceleration with two direction forces and a mass?

I want to find acceleration of a rope with two forces going opposite directions (5.0N right) (30.0N left) with a rope mass of 2.5 kg.  May you please tell me how you have solved the problem also?
To find acceleration, you would need to always find the net force. In this case, the vertical forces don't need to be considered as we assumed that they will all cancel out. Then the net force will be calculated based on the horizontal forces. Define left is your positive direction, then your net force would be $$F_net=30N-5N=25N$$
Then the acceleration would be $$a=\frac{F_{net}}{m}$$
