# How to find acceleration with a force, a mass, and coefficient of sliding friction?

Problem: While ice skating, you push off of a wall with a force of 200.0N.  Calculate acceleration if your mass is 50.0 kg and the coefficient of sliding friction between your skates and the ice is .2  .  Please explain how you solved this situation.

Based on Newton's Third Law, you will be pushed back by the wall with the same 200 N force. Name this fore F. Then the net force on you would be $F_{net}=F-f$ where $f=\mu N=\mu mg$ is the sliding frictional force.

Your acceleration is then $a=\frac {F_{net}}{m}$.
